    About

Aequilibrius Laboratories (or "aeqlabs") is a one-manned experimental sound engineering operation focused on designing a unique listening experiance with audio augmentation. La-Mar Sutton is the designer of Aequilibrius Laboratories sound and has worked with various other audio architechs from many diffrent backgrounds and have worked in multiple genres of music.

Presented on this website are aeqlab files (mainly raw audio clips and full albums) dating back to the project's creation in 1998. Aeqlabs supports free music/audio in accordance with the "Free" music philosiphy. All sounds processed by Aequilibirus are cost-free to download, listen to, alter, manipulate, sell and/or use as a tool for whatever purposes the user desires.

The audio within Aequilibrius Laboratories is far from the conventional "music" that most listeners are accustomed to. This is a amateur project built as a part-time hobby that test the imagination of the listener and the ingenuity of the creator. Some sounds from aeqlabs may be too difficult to listen to or even comprehend. Many listeners may classify aeqlabs as a Darkwave / heavyTrance / lo-fi ambient musical experience, However a better description of aeqlabs would be: "a general experimentation of noise".

Most engineering work in Aequilibrius Laboratories is done on computer, however physical hardware plays a vital role in many aeqlab recordings as well. These pieces of machinery include circut-bent audio electronics, binaural I/O, sine wave generator, parabolic microphones, and other vices built from scratch specifically designed for sound alteration.

There is no visible end to this project. However, this is also a part-time project. Constant updates and steady releases are not common. In early 2008, aeqlabs has changed it's format of full album releases in favor of individual short "sound pieces" (or mini projects). These shorter sound compositions allow aequilibrius laboratories to share more audio without having to work within the confines and boundaries of the conventional structured LP.
